What will I need to do with sewer lines on my property when I am rebuilding my home(s)?
Everyone rebuilding should consider replacing them. Old cast iron pipes are probably corroded and plastic pipes could have suffered heat damage or were deformed during clearing operations. Both situations will eventually cause a blockage into your house. At a minimum, your plumbing contractor should inspect the on‐site sewer lines for any damage and replace them as necessary. In addition, all lots will need to install a property line clean‐out on their sewer lateral within 2 feet of the property line. and if your lot is below Honoapiilani Highway the lines between the property line clean‐out and the house must be pressure tested to verify that ground water is not entering the system.
